ELEFFECT

FASHION JOURNAL

Rachel Krasky of Fashion Journal put ELEFECT Tan to the test. Here’s what she had to say.

Hard to fault.

How it feels/smells/looks: It’s fair to say, this is one of the most hyped self-tanners of recent times. For those who don’t know the back story, Elle Effect is created by social media queen, Elle Ferguson (one of the OG Instagram influencers). This is the first product released under her brand.

I’m going to be honest, this is the best self-tanner I’ve ever tried. It’s super easy to apply (you can be a first-timer or tanning veteran) and you don’t have to be perfect with your application to get it right. Reviews have raved about the scent of this product saying it smells like roses. While it doesn’t smell like your traditional fake tan, roses are a bit of a stretch.

Why I like it: The finish is bloody brilliant! It looks super natural on the skin – the colour is perfect and it doesn’t feel sticky once you apply it. The formula dries really nicely and barely has any transfer. It also doesn’t give you that horrible patchy look on your hands, feet and other often troublesome areas.

I like that Elle gives clear tips on how to apply your tan depending on how dark you want to go and I really enjoy the staying power. It actually lasts around seven days and fades nicely, without being patchy or leaving strange dark/light areas. Finally, another big win is the fact that the product is both vegan and cruelty-free.

Areas for improvement: It’s hard to fault this one. While the price point is on the higher end, it’s worth every cent for the result. I genuinely find the finish is as good as getting a professional spray tan – big claim I know. 5/5.
